Verner Panton, the Danish designer, is credited with Creating molded plastic chairs for the first time ever.  His S-shaped Panton Chair is his masterpiece and was included In the Danish Culture Canon in 2006 as an example of the cultural heritage of Denmark.  Inspired by the sight of neatly stacked Plastic buckets, he dreamed of creating a plastic chair that was one continuous piece that could be stacked neatly and stored when not needed.  There have been a number of changes to the original model with the objective being to make the plastic chair an affordable Piece of furniture.
